Ken Macdonald
Ken is a born and breed Cantabrian and proud of it. However he first started within the civil industry with the Hire Company out of Petone in Wellington. He then went to run the Infrastructure company Connectrix back in Christchurch during 1998 and later took over ownership. The company grew dramatically and made a good name within the Civil industry having won the house connection contract and other large jobs. After a period in Europe and aviating aircraft Ken then travelled back to New Zealand where an opportunity came to grow the Atlas Group's civil division. The decision was made to join them and the company flourished as a result. Kens other activities include Jet Boating (which comes with its own extensive history), flying, and visiting that Bach up in Lake Sumner.

About Us
Atlas Infrastructure and Services was established in 2011 as part of the greater Atlas Group company which was as an amalgamation of GasCo and Pipetec Construction back in 2004. Due to significant growth over the preceding years Atlas Infrastructure and Services made a strategic decision to operate independently from the Gas division and moved to its own location and yard in Yaldhurst.

Water
Water
Atlas Group has completed several water projects and has been an accredited contractor to do so.
Recent projects have seen Atlas working with the Waterloo Business Park Developers installting the water main. Historically we had completed many water main installations in and around Christchurch including Water Main upgrades on Sylvan rd, Scotston rd, Carrick st and others.

Town Hall Power
This project is the civil works for the trenching and installation of the Town Hall Power. The Town Hall was extensively damaged during the Christchurch Earthquakes. It is now under a 4 year reconstruction project which aims to retain many parts of the original building. You can check on the rest of the progress here.

Hydro Vac Excavation
Hydro Vac Excavation
Hydro excavation is the safest, least destructive, and fastest way to excavate around services and in tricky tight locations.
Atlas uses Hydro Excavation extensively on its operations. Currently we utilise the Vermeer VSK-500 unit capable of exposing cables, joint pits, potholing, and minor trench excavation.

CNC - Christchurch Northern Corridor Motorway Project - Factory and Guthries Power Undergrounding
The new Christchurch Northern Arterial motorway is running from the Waimakariri Bridge to the east of Belfast connecting to QEII drive and onto Cranford which is being four laned to the city. Expected completion date is in 2020s. Atlas is proud to be completing service trenching and excavation for Power and various other utilities. A Hydro Excavation unit has also been stationed onsite to assist in pot holing and sign installation. The project is under a tight schedule and moving quickly hence Atlas has moved onto site to start Power undergrounding along Factory and Guthries road during January and February 2017. Other tasks included undergrounding of certain utility assets so that other crews can gain access to various parts of the site to start earthworks. Two Chain Road Power upgrade
Due to the growth of the selwyn district extra demand has been imposed on the current power network. To cater for the demand and future proof the network Orion has commission this project to go ahead in early 2017. This will be completed in conjunction with Connetics.

Proper Crisps Gas Main Installation Nelson Region
Atlas Group are working with Nelson Underground Services (NUS) in Nelson to trench, drill, and lay 110mm gas main from the OnGas Compund to the Proper Crisps Factory. This job required Atlas due to our experience in the Gas industry and high level of standard and health and safety policy and processes. We are proud to be bringing OnGas to Proper Crisps and allow them to continue a high quality product with more consitent gas supply.
